This release couples live performances by The Kinks from 1978 and 1979 at the same venue. Although it's a coupling, the 1978 recording is the main focus, with the 1979 recording being more of a bonus. The 1979 recording isn't a complete recording, hence its bonus status, but it wasn't cut from the master; this is the original master recording. On the other hand, the 1978 recording is a complete recording with excellent sound quality. It's labeled as a "Brushed Series," which is due to the removal of strong hiss noise. While the 1979 recording itself isn't bad, the presence of an enthusiastic audience making strange noises nearby is jarring. Although adjustments have been made to reduce the volume of the noise, it still falls far short of the high-quality 1978 recording. However, each disc contains a full 79 minutes of content, making this a worthwhile coupling title.
***** Mike Millard Tape Series *****
In recent years, the "Mike Millard Tapes" have seen increasing digitalization from direct masters or low-generation tapes. These tapes were recorded by Mike Millard, a taper well-known to fans for his exceptional skills in audience recording. The same label has released several recordings based on these newly digitized Mike Millard tapes, in two versions: "Brushed Mike Millard Tapes" and "Legendary Mike Millard Tapes." Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality; some have considerable room for improvement, and the "Brushed" series features significantly improved versions. The "Legendary" series, on the other hand, features tapes that were originally close to perfect and had little room for improvement, with only minor edits such as light editing between tracks.
