This is a complete recording of the January 22, 2008 Tokyo performance of Zappa Plays Zappa, captured in superb sound quality from an audience recording.

Featuring Steve Vai as a guest, this is a must-have item for fans, capturing the breathtaking performance with perfect sound balance.

The Zappa Plays Zappa tour, initiated by his eldest son Dweezil Zappa in the summer of 2006, aimed to recreate the artistry of the genius Frank Zappa on the stage, and was of great interest to longtime fans.

After completing the initial six-month live schedule, the second part of the tour, which resumed in the summer of 2007, focused on covering Zappa's career more comprehensively, and included collaborative parts with his father Frank projected onto a screen on stage. It is well known that this highly acclaimed tour has been praised worldwide.

The Tokyo performance included in this release began with a close-up of Zappa's majestic image projected onto the screen during "Black Napkins," bringing the venue's energy to its peak. The young band members' flawless performance, their masterful recreation of the complex songs, Ray White's soulful vocals, and Steve Vai's phenomenal guitar playing made for a thrilling show that kept the audience glued to the stage from start to finish.

While some seats in the venue may have experienced poor sound balance, this release captures all instruments, from low to high frequencies, in perfect balance, including the guitars of all three guitarists, including Vai. Fans who were dissatisfied with the venue's sound should be pleased.

Furthermore, the end of Disc 2 includes a soundboard recording of "Willie The Pimp" from the October 30, 2007 New York performance.
