This video item features a top-quality, official-grade professional recording of the performance by the Jack DeJohnette and Chano Dominguez co-led project at Jazz Baltica in Germany on March 7, 2005. Those familiar with Spanish progressive rock might recognize Chano Dominguez more as Sebastian Dominguez, the leader of the Cadiz-based band "CAI," which was short-lived but active around the 1980s. After CAI disbanded in 1981, he became devoted to piano jazz legends such as Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk, and has since established himself as a unique pianist in the current jazz scene by filtering his flamenco roots through jazz. The performances included in this work, while not with his own band, feature the backing of veterans like Jack DeJohnette and Luisito Quintero, who is prominent in the "Elements of Life" band, and reconstruct traditional flamenco styles such as bulerías and solea. While it may sound complicated when described in words, the piano melodies are incredibly beautiful and will touch the hearts of all who listen. With perfect video and audio, this is a masterpiece that I can confidently recommend to everyone.
