This release features complete soundboard recordings of both the first and second shows performed by Jimi Hendrix at Seabury Hall in Maui, Hawaii, on July 30, 1970. Following the dissolution of the Band of Gypsys, Hendrix recruited Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox on bass for what would be his final American tour. As the Hawaii performance on August 1 marked the conclusion of that US tour—and the European tour began shortly after with a show at the Isle of Wight Festival on August 30—the Maui shows documented here represent historically significant recordings. The performance itself is excellent and highly polished; in both the first and second shows, the band delivers a performance that feels remarkably meticulous and refined. It is a wonderful concert. As a bonus, the release includes five tracks from the soundcheck of a concert held in Berkeley just two months earlier, on May 30th. Regarding sound quality, the material is sourced from a soundboard recording and has been remastered for overall balance, ensuring a consistently high-quality listening experience.
