This album, the first of its kind to be officially released on CD by Capitol, is recorded in its entirety in its original stereo and mono sound, with bonus session recordings. While well-known to Beatles collectors, the Capitol-edited master differs from the original UK stereo and mono sound source currently available on CD, featuring numerous mixes and edits, including exclusive versions not found anywhere else. Released with a sinister "butcher cover" design as a sign of protest against Capitol's continued fragmented editing, ignoring the Beatles' original album concept, this infamous album was quickly recalled and became a legendary collector's item. This release features a rare alternate shot of the butcher cover on the front. The reverse side is reversible, allowing you to swap out the front cover to your liking.
