W.Axl's first solo show in Japan in 14 years, the only sold-out show, was at Makuhari Messe on July 14th. This exclusive CD release features a mix of Rose's in-ear monitor source and the finest audience source! Axl's backstage conversations, mischief, and instructions to each band member through his in-ear monitors, as well as his onstage vocal actions, including his ever-changing tone and eerie shouts, are captured in a toxically raw and vivid manner. This set sets it apart from ordinary audience sources, making it a knockout, ultra-mega-item that's sure to knock out any enthusiast. Early on, AXL was in high spirits, even yelling "WHAT A CROWD! WHAT A CROWD!!" to the crowd, riling them up. While AXL doesn't often MC in Japan, he's been chatting away offline through his in-ear monitors, and listening to this alone is sure to be a valuable experience. And of course, the highlight of the day was "DON'T CRY," his first public performance since the end of the '93 tour. After the show ended, AXL realized he had skipped Ron's guitar solo, and even though the house lights had come on, he returned to the stage to introduce Ron. The plan was to start with ROCKET QUEEN after Ron's guitar solo, but AXL unexpectedly joined in on the instrumental DON'T CRY, which was also a sideshow to Ron's guitar solo. He ended up singing the entire chorus. Perhaps satisfied with this ending, AXL ended the show by saying, "THANK YOU, GOOD NIGHT!"
