This is a complete recording of the 1st and 2nd shows of the June 23rd Nagoya performance by the Mike Stern Band, featuring Randy Brecker, from their 2008 Japan tour, captured in superb sound quality audience recording.
With Bob Franceschini no longer in the lineup, and Randy Brecker joining the band, this tour of Japan featured a four-piece ensemble with just a trumpet. Following a week-long run in Tokyo, this Nagoya performance, the final show of the tour, exceeded all expectations. The first set kicked off with two tracks from their latest album, *Who Let The Cats Out?*, while the second set consisted of live staples like "One Liners," "Slow Change," and "Chatter." Both sets included the expected encore, "Some Skunk Funk," resulting in two incredibly polished and streamlined performances.
While there are some moments in the second set where the sound is unstable due to microphone issues, the overall sound quality more than makes up for it.
This bootleg boasts some of the finest performance and sound quality among recent Mike Stern bootlegs. In "Some Skunk Funk," Stern plays not only the regular backing part but also the main theme, a treat for fans. There's also plenty of time for Dave Weckl's superhuman drum solo, making this a breathtaking three hours packed with highlights from start to finish.
