This recording features a soundboard recording of the second night of the September 10th Aberdeen concert in Scotland, from the 2002 tour accompanying "Heathen Chemistry"!!! While the radio broadcast of the final night of the three consecutive nights at Finsbury Park in July and the audience recording of the two consecutive nights at Manchester immediately following this Aberdeen concert are highly recommended and considered classic recordings, this second Aberdeen concert, despite being a digest version, is a rare gig where Liam left midway through, and it has the potential to become a classic recording. Among the live shows that year in which Liam left the stage early, the Florida show on the first day of the North American tour, which can be heard on FLUSHBULB's "Noel Sings When Liam's Down," and the Fukuoka International Center show on October 1st, which is unforgettable for Japanese fans, can be heard on Sylph's "Trouble Star Again," are famous. However, in both of these shows, Liam left the stage early, and Noel set up a long acoustic set, making them extremely rare performances with a succession of rare songs. But this second Aberdeen show was a little different. On this day, Liam managed to make it through until the last number of the main set, "Acquiesce," but did not appear for the encore, and the stage was closed with three songs sung by Noel. All of those encores are included in this release, starting with a solo acoustic performance of "The Masterplan." "The Masterplan" had already been played at the Florida show mentioned earlier, but at this point it was an extremely rare song, and the value of this recording is high just for being able to enjoy this year's performance on a soundboard recording. Then Noel announced, "Liam's voice has given out, so I'll play two more songs. But they're both good songs," and the band performed "Don't Look Back In Anger." It wasn't until the very end, when the air noises were clearly audible, that the audience was incredibly enthusiastic despite the circumstances. And perhaps because Liam's departure was only for the encore, Noel showed no signs of confusion, and his vocals conveyed that the encore was something he had thought of solely for the audience. And then came the final number, the biggest highlight of the album, "Wonderwall." "This song belongs to everyone, so I have to play it sometimes. I don't really want to, but Liam's voice is gone, and with such a great audience, I have to, it's a good opportunity. I don't remember exactly, but I don't think I've played it for about four years. Actually, I wrote it in Scotland. So, everyone sing along," he said as he began to play, and after a chorus of enthusiastic singing from the audience, he handed the vocals over to the audience from the second verse onwards, creating a wonderful sense of unity reminiscent of the same song at the Cardiff and Dublin shows in March 1996. And in the final chorus, he repeated "Are you gonna be the one that saves me?", showcasing Noel's latest arrangement at the time, but the audience's chorus of the original lyrics swung out, and Noel ended up laughing, bringing the live show to a heartwarming close. This song, "Wonderwall," dedicated to his ex-wife Meg, was once declared sealed away, perhaps out of consideration for his then-girlfriend and current wife, Sarah, or to avoid her jealousy. However, at a Florida concert that year, he reverse-covered Ryan Adams' version, changing the chorus lyrics and thus "unsealing" it. More recently, he has explicitly stated, "I don't know who said it, but this song wasn't dedicated to Meg," and it seems Noel himself is most troubled by this song. Yet, for some reason, he performed it, creating a hidden gem of a performance that brought a smile to the audience's face!!!
