The latest title from the "MASTERSTROKE" label, a must-have for Queen collectors, features the 1979 London Hammersmith concert, a highly acclaimed performance held as a Cambodian relief concert and considered one of Queen's finest performances! This concert, which marked the culmination of the 1979 Crazy Tour just before their single "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" became a No. 1 hit and conquered the US, was a truly memorable concert for fans, featuring special content such as Brian May's guitar solo of "Silent Night" in a Christmas theme, and incredible performances. This release is a 2012 complete edition, consisting of 2 CDs and 1 DVD, featuring the original edited live audio with added audience mixes, and an expanded version DVD with all existing concert footage plus previously unreleased tracks in a unique video remix, recreating one of Queen's finest live performances. This highly recommended collector's edition delivers the complete picture of Queen at their peak, a performance widely considered Freddie Mercury's best among fans, with 2012 remastered audio and video!
[Collector's Point] From the "MASTERSTROKE" label, which has been releasing definitive versions of must-have items for Queen fans with the latest remastering, comes the 1979 Hammersmith concert! The charity concert held in London for four days from December 26th to 29th, 1979, as the "Cambodian Refugee Relief Concert," featured many famous artists such as Paul McCartney, The Who, The Clash, and Elvis Costello, and was a huge topic of conversation at the time. Queen performed a solo concert on the 26th as the culmination of their European tour, and while parts of it were released on a live album and broadcast on TV, the full performance has yet to be officially released. Queen, who had performed Christmas shows in Hammersmith in the past, were in top form on this day and delivered a wonderful performance, but until now only two songs have been broadcast on TV, incomplete leaked footage, and while there are some good quality audience recordings of the complete version circulating, the quality has been inconsistent. This release features the highest quality complete version to date, based on raw-generation master audio and video, and incorporating previously released material with the latest remastering. The CD is a complete concert recording version based on the best quality soundboard audio, with incomplete parts supplemented by audience masters, resulting in a definitive version with higher sound quality than ever before. The DVD video is also the best in both sound and video compared to many other versions with the same content, and in addition to existing pro-shot concert footage, several songs not included on the video have been restored and edited from live footage from the European tour, resulting in a newly edited original expanded version. Strictly speaking, some material that is not from this day has been remixed with the live audio from that day, so it is incomplete, but it can be enjoyed as a collage video that is almost seamless, and the video work is finished in a way that does not disrupt the flow of the concert, with the exception of the medley from "Keep Yourself Alive" to "Brighton Rock". Furthermore, the video and audio, which were originally mono sources, have been remastered into a stereo mix using matrix audio, just like the CD, and 5.1 surround sound is also included, allowing you to select an immersive live sound experience. This collector's edition from the "MASTERSTROKE" label delivers Queen's greatest live performance of 1979 with the highest quality audio and video to date!
