On January 10, 2023, the world was shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of one of Britain's greatest guitarists, Jeff Beck. The GOLDPLATE label has released a special memorial edition of "Black and Blue," including a historic rehearsal with the Rolling Stones, his contemporaries since the 1960s, in tribute to Jeff Beck!

In early 1975, following Mick Taylor's departure, numerous guitarists were rumored to be candidates for the role. During a secret studio rehearsal held at the Stones Mobile Unit in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Jeff Beck, who had just completed his solo album "Blow by Blow," participated, despite being mentioned as a potential replacement for the band, including Rory Gallagher, Steve Marriott, and Mick Ronson. Although he reportedly turned down the offer to join the Stones, the rehearsal was secretly recorded. GOLDPLATE previously released this recording as a four-CD set titled "BLACK AND BLUE REHEARSALS." However, many tracks lacked Jeff Beck's participation, as well as lengthy jam sessions. This time, a single CD (CD2) features carefully selected highlights featuring Beck. This collection offers a fascinating mix of performances, from slow blues to funky jams, including the "Freeway Jam" from the album "Blow by Blow." The other CD (CD1) features previously unreleased studio sessions from Munich, Germany, following the Rotterdam rehearsals. While many outtakes from this period have been available, many have been of poor quality. This new compilation features a selection of high-quality recordings. While not featuring Jeff Beck, this is a newly remastered version of the 1975 "Black and Blue" sessions. This special Jeff Beck memorial collection from the GOLDPLATE label features rare rehearsal and session recordings of Jeff Beck and The Rolling Stones, who have been active together since the 1960s.
