THE SILVER WILBURYS (TAJ MAHAL & GEORGE HARRISON,
BOB DYLAN, JOHN FOGERTY AND MORE...) / LIVE (New Import 2CD Pressing)
The legendary special session featuring George Harrison, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, and more is now available in a new, complete stereo soundboard master! [Direct Import from the original overseas pressing]
The legendary special session, held at the Palomino Club, a long-established live music venue in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, on February 19, 1987, is now available in a new, complete stereo soundboard master!
Grammy Award-winning Hall of Fame bluesman Taj Mahal, who has been active since the 1960s, is joined on stage by George Harrison, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, and Jesse Ed Davis for an impromptu session. Nicknamed the "Silver Wilburys" for their all-star lineup, they were a precursor to the Traveling Wilburys, who formed the following year. While this live performance has previously been available on a short, incompletely edited CD and nearly complete footage with degraded image and sound quality, this time, a new stereo master has been remixed and enhanced based on leaked live footage of the venue, perfectly recreating the day's action. George Harrison joins shortly after the first half, and Bob Dylan also appears on the sixth track, "Matchbox," where George takes the lead vocals. Afterward, John Fogerty of CCR sang lead vocals on "Knock on Wood," and the second half of the set erupts into an unexpected session with the all-star lineup. The album includes the classic CCR song "Proud Mary," sung at Dylan's suggestion; "Watching the River Flow" and "Peggy Sue," in which George and Dylan share the microphone; "Honey Don't" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy," both from George's Beatles repertoire; and even the final "Twist and Shout." The exchanges between songs reveal that these were improvised sessions, conducted on the spot, without any rehearsal.
This is a must-see title, featuring a valuable recording of a one-of-a-kind, legendary live performance that may never be replicated again!
