Kampuchea Definitive Edition, Hammersmith Odeon Cinema, London, Dec 27, 28 & 29, 1979

This Cambodian refugee relief concert was organized by UNICEF Executive Director Waldheim and Paul McCartney to raise funds for the relief of Cambodian refugees. It took place over three days, December 26-29, 1979, at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. The lineup for this live performance was undeniably star-studded, featuring big names from the British rock scene such as Paul McCartney's Wings and Rockestra, Queen, The Pretenders, The Clash, The Specials, and The Who. This live performance was broadcast in several versions, and to encompass them all, two titles, the Deluxe Edition and the Definitive Edition, were released simultaneously! The Deluxe Edition includes the Japanese stereo version, the mono broadcast version from the UK which includes rare scenes, and the American stereo version. The Definitive Edition is the complete version broadcast in the US in 1985, and includes all of the commercials from that time. It perfectly recreates the American broadcast from that time, including commercials for Beatles videos! This live performance was Wings' final stage, and Rockestra is a band featuring the performers from the final show, a coined word meaning "rock orchestra." A star-studded lineup delivers a spectacular performance! The studio recording of "Rockestra Theme" is included on The Winks' "Back To The Egg." The video has also been digitally remastered from the best existing master, making this undoubtedly the definitive Cambodian recording.
